Milan is one of Italy’s leading cities, but isn’t necessarily a city that travelers run to when traveling the land. Milan is Italy’s monetary center and likewise one of the important fashion capitals of the world. Those things add to fantastic high-end shopping and classy night life, but they don’t do much good for the backpackers. Milan absolutely has some interesting sights and plenty of history, but except you are really a fashion person there could be better choices for those doing a short tour of Italy.
Hotels
Vernazza, no doubt the most preaty of the five Cinque terre small towns, nests behind a rocky cliff in a depression in the valley near the sea. A piazza with picturesque houses spreads onto the small harbor. In 1182 Vernazza campaigned on the Genoese side adverse to Pisa. A few sections of the old Genoese fortifications, walls and a round tower have been preserved.
