Rural Italy is becoming more and more admired with tourists. Tuscany is particularly nice-looking with hilly and mountainous topography in much of the region. There are beautiful valleys too and interesting Tuscan farm houses. The southern area of Campania includes the city of Naples and there are several tourist destinations, including the Greek Temples at Paestrum, Sibyl’s Cave at Cumae, the Roman ruins at Pompeii and the volcanoes at Vesuvius. Holidays in Italy, whether in town or country, offer variety, sunshine and a warm welcome from the friendly local people.
Wandering through the whole city will merely take you a couple of hours, so you’ll want to appreciate your promenade. Take your time, gaze over the incredibly perfect Tuscan views stretching out in all directions, stop for coffee or gelato. There are a couple churches worth dropping a little bit of time in, and some museums too. But the central attraction of San Gimignano is no doubt San Gimignano. If you’ve took a car, it’s an ideal ground for exploring this part of Tuscany.
If you like art you’ll love Florence. You’ll be capable to see a roomful of Botticellis at the Uffizi, Michelangelo’s masterpiece the David at the Accademia, and Donatello’s earlier David (the one that inspired a young Michelangelo) at the Bargello. Be admonished that these museums are famous for their long lines throughout the tourist high season, so either reserve your ticket in advance (online or by phone) or plan to arise at the dawn to get in line. Otherwise you could be faced with a several-hour waiting – which is a pretty unsuitable way to pass your vacation. Travel smart and you won’t end up traveling disappointed.
Amalfi Coast officially begins in Positano and continues almost to Salerno, the road snaking and twisting through the towns of Amalfi, Vietri Sul Mare, Maiori, Cetara, and Ravello.
